a. Steel, Cement and Power Plants at Purulia, West Bengal
JBIL has lined up a 5 million tonne Integrated Steel Plant, 3 million tonne Cement Plant and Power Plant of 1215 MW capacity at Purulia, West Bengal, at a cost of USD 3.2 billion. It will be the sixth unit of the Company. While a Memorandum of Agreement has already been signed with the State Government, about 1,128 acres of land of the total of 3,800 acres required for the project have already been acquired. The foundation stone for the project was laid by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in the presence of other Hon’ble Ministers and dignitaries.
b. Coke Oven Plant at Durgapur, West Bengal
Coke is the basic raw material required for providing heat in Blast Furnaces. Having a monthly consumption of over 40,000 tonnes of Coke, our Company plans to leverage its key raw material by setting up a Coke Oven Plant with a capacity of 3,00,000 tonnes per annum so as to achieve economies in cost.
c. Rolling Mill at Durgapur, West Bengal
Our Company is setting up a third Rolling Mill at Durgapur with a capacity of 3,00,000 tonnes per annum. We plan to manufacture Alloy, Carbon and Mild Steel Rounds in the new mill to cater primarily to the needs of Railways, Automobile sector, etc.
